"Think-buying"
One approach we have taken is to seek out sources for tee-shirts and mugs that are not made in sweatshops, and to look for independent businesses to buy our materials from. But when we decided to launch our own store, we thought it would also be good to try to offer as much information as possible to help people make their own decision about what they feel good about buying.
We will tell you about each product's features and links to wider philosophical issues or campaigns. Global Connections will show you where the product, or it's parts, came from, and what kind of company or craft collective made it. Who Gets The Loot will make transparent the economics of this site and you can know exactly who you are paying when you shop with us.
In so doing we are attempting to de-construct the actual consumption process. Over time we'd like this site to be a resource for issues about products and also about the philosophical underpinnings of consumer culture. Whatever you do - stop before you shop and think about what you are buying.
